Barcelona confirm Marc Bartra will be joining Borussia Dortmund

Barça have officially confirmed the departure of Marc Bartra in a statement released this Friday. The German club have paid the defender's buy-out clause of eight million euros.

"FC Barcelona announces that Borussia Dortmund has advised of their wish to exercise the buy-out clause in the contract of Marc Bartra, according to which the club is obliged to facilitate the transfer of the player for a value of eight million euros", states the club's public communication.

Barça mention that Bartra arrived at the club at the age of 12 and is a "firm representative of the values" of La Masia "as a player and a person".

The statement adds that Bartra "has spent more than half his life at Barça".

Marc Bartra leaves the club having won five Spanish Liga titles, two Champions League trophies, two Copas del Rey, two UEFA Super Cups, two Spanish Super Cups and one World Club Cup.

The club also invites him, as it did with Dani Alves, to formally say goodbye to the fans at the start of next season.
