Barcelona are in talks with Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Aymen Abdennour's agent has been in Barcelona to speak with FC Barcelona about a possible deal for the Monaco defender.

Abdelkader Jilan has supposedly recommended Barça sign the player and then loan him back to Monaco, while they complete the transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA, which prevents them from registering players.

Sources close to Barça, though, have denied any meeting took place. However, Jilan says contact was initially made in June and that there are several other clubs interested in the Tunisian.

L'Equipe report that Atletico MadridJuventusInter Milan and Liverpool are all keen on the 25-year-old, who is rated at 10 million euros

But Josep Maria Bartomeu, speaking in America, has said that the squad is closed for the season and that the club don't even plan on selling any players, unless the players, such as Adriano or Pedo, ask for a move.

If Adriano did leave, though, which is expected, that could explain any potential interest in Abdennour. Jeremy Mathieu could be used as cover for Jordi Alba, with the Monaco player adding competition in the middle of defence.
