Barcelona are looking for a solution to the 'Aleix Vidal Case'

The club don't want the situation to lead to instability and have told the player's he's still in their plans

Aleix Vidal’s ostracism has not gone unnoticed in the upper echelons of Barcelona. Since the uncomfortable situation developed, following the loss to Alaves (Sep. 10), the club have been monitoring developments, but in the last few days they’ve began to work on stifling the instability it could generate inside the dressing room.

Barça have told Vidal they count on him. He has a contract until 2020 and the club spent 18 million euros on bringing him in from Sevilla. His release clause is 60 million euros.

What’s led to worries is the fact he’s repeatedly missed out on match day squads, both in La Liga and the Champions League. He wasn’t in the squad for the Celtic game and has not been in the squad since. He was among the 20 players who travelled to Germany this week, but in the end he didn’t make the bench, along with Jordi Masip. That’s now five games running he’s not been in the squad.

Barcelona have transmitted to him that he still features in their plans, that they will give him more time to keep working and to try and recover Luis Enrique’s confidence. Vidal is ready to give his all to try and rectify the situation, but he’s not closing the door on a January departure, either.

The player has made the club aware that if the current situation continues beyond December his intention is to listen to offers and to leave Camp Nou. It’s not his objective, but he doesn’t want to continue in the background, especially after going six months without playing due to last season’s transfer ban which prevented him being registered.

Luis Enrique has also told him the door is still open. Speaking before the Sporting game he said: “[Vidal’s] training well and trying to rectify the situation,” Luis Enrique said. It’s already happened with various players that they weren’t in my plans and then ended up being regulars. If there’s a manager open to situations changing, it’s me.”
