Barcelona and Cruzeiro strike Douglas deal - but defender will have last word

As long as there are no late twists, Douglas Pereira looks set to bring his time in Europe to an end.

The Barcelona right-back will return to Brazil and sign for Cruzeiro, as long as he gives the go-ahead to a deal which now only depends on him.

Douglas is not completely sold on the idea of leaving Spain, though, as returning to his homeland after two years would mean he'd lose out on the chance of achieving Spanish citizenship.

Barça and Cruzeiro's agreement is complete. The Brazilian side will pay two million euros for the 60 per cent of the rights which Barça own.

Sao Paulo received four million euros for the player almost two years ago, although he's hardly featured at Camp Nou.

He's appeared in just nine games, in fact, most of them of little importance.

However, the operation is still not complete as Douglas himself has not agreed to the move.

The 25-year-old is keen to get Spanish citizenship eventually and would prefer to go on loan to a La Liga side, as he has not been in the country for three years yet - he will have the last word.
