Barça's sporting director watches Gabriel Jesus in Palmeiras game

Barça's sporting director Robert Fernandez has been travelling around Brazil to track the developments of Gabigol and Gabriel Jesus.

On Friday evening, Fernandez watched the former during Santos' 3-1 win over Atletica Ponte Preta - in which Gabigol scored the third goal - and on Sunday travelled to Porto Alegre to see Jesus' Palmeiras beat Internacional 1-0.

This is the second attempt by the Blaugrana to sign Jesus since the end of June, after Raul Sanllehi went to Brazil to negotiate with Palmeiras and the player himself in order to help facilitate a transfer to the Camp Nou.

Jesus has been scouted by Barça for several months now and it's now time for Fernandez to make his decision.

The Catalan club initially offer 19 million euros for the 19-year-old - which was rejected by Palmeiras - while other clubs including Chelsea, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also made proposals to the striker, but he refused to negotiate with any given his priority is to force a move to Barça.

Given his age, however, Jesus doesn't want to go to a big club like Barça just yet and would have to compete with the "MSN" for a spot in Luis Enrique's attack.

This is where the presence of Fernandez in Brazil is of paramount importance, as he should seek talks that progress in the Blaugrana's favour in order to help delay the transfer in order to aid Jesus' development as a player.
