Barça's Robert Fernandez in Munich to watch Bayern's Kimmich

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez is in Munich to cast an eye over a potential FC Barcelona signing.

He has travelled to Germany to take in the Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Juventus, where he will get the chance to watch Joshua Kimmich live.

Barça want to see him play in a big game, as Wednesday night's game is against the Serie A leaders, to see just how far the 21-year-old has evolved.

Robert feels he could prove to be the perfect option to replace Javier Mascherano one day due to the versatility he offers.

He began his career as a central midfielder, but Pep Guardiola has converted him into a centre-back. He's good on the ball and would be able to fulfill Mascherano's role in the Barça squad.

As well as Kimmich, Robert could also be casting another eye on David Alaba. In his case, he is one of the most sought after players in Europe, but is expected to sign a new deal in Bavaria.

Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, another player who has been tracked by Barça, will miss the match through injury.

The first leg in Turin ended 2-2, handing Bayern a slight advantage as the two sides head in to the round-of-16 second leg match at the Allianz Arena.
