Barça's Cury disgusted by "idiotic" comment from Neymar's lawyer

Neymar Junior's new Barcelona contract, which was confirmed on Friday, caused a little tension on social media. Andre Cury, a lawyer and the club's representative in Brazil, responded to Marcos Motta, one of Neymar's lawyers, who had said on his Twitter account that the player's new contract was the "biggest contract in the history of football."

Andre Cury spoke to GloboEsporte.com and criticised Motta, who then took to Twitter again to say change "biggest" for "best. Cury had said: "It was an idiotic comment, from a lawyer who wants to be appear [in the media]. He doesn't have the authority to talk about a confidential contract. Much less to talk about the contracts of other Barcelona players, or the rest of the world's teams."

Motta's first tweet had read: "Come on, understand this: Neymar Jr and F.C. Barcelona agree to renew and sign the biggest contract in the history of football."

The representative of Barça's interests in Brazil, meanwhile, contunued: "It's an unfortunate comment from a person who shouldn't be listened to. He's a lawyer, he can't comment on anything. Does he know the contracts of Barca's other players? Of PSG? Of Manchester United? Does he know everything? Does he work for FIFA?"

Once Cury's interview with GloboEsporte was published, Motta published a new tweet changing the words in reference to Neymar's contract: "I spoke with him - Cury - just now on the phone. We laughed together. Just replace 'biggest' with 'best' and everything's all right! The game goes on!"

To bring the saga to an end, Wagner Ribeiro, an advisor to Neymar's family, praised the agreement between the player and the club in a similar way to Motta: "Neymar is the most valued footballer in the world. Congratulations, Barça."
