Barça target Gundogan announces that he will decide his future soon
Ilkay Gundogan has broken his silence. The Turkish-born Germany international has looked to address the rumours surrounding his future via his Facebook page, where he hasn't ruled out spending another year with Borussia Dortmund.
Gundogan's statement
"In recent weeks I have read countless things about my future. That today I'm negotiating here, tomorrow I'm having a medical elsewhere. At first, I had to laugh at them, but things have changed since then, with people saying that I am courting around to try and get more money. Due to this, I would like to make the following statement."
"The 2014/2015 season ends on the 30th June 2015. Although normally deals aren't sorted out already, the constant rumours about my situation are forcing me to decide my future as soon as possible. But don't forget that I still have one year of contract left at Borussia Dortmund."
"I will decide after the season has finished and after our important European Championship qualifier for Germany."
Recently, SPORT have put forward the fact that Barcelona have slowed down their pursuit of the central midfielder, as they would like to focus on obtaining Pogba who impressed them during the Champions League final in Berlin.
An agreement between Barça and Gundogan was a reality, and only an agreement between the club and Dortmund remained to be done. But now, Barça have put their operation on ice, complicating a potential exit for the player.
The midfielder has seen potential suitors circling, in the form of leaving for the Camp Nou or the Allianz Arena, and could remain at Dortmund for another year in order to leave for free. This would be the worst-case scenario for Dortmund, who wouldn't want to see one of their more famous players leave their squad without taking even a euro into their coffers.
