The Blaugrana are looking at centre-backs for the winter

Dayot Upamecano is another player the club have watched

Barça have clear priorities in January. The first intention is not to sign a central midfielder, but a centre-back with experience in Europe who can have a big future at the club.

Colombian defender Yerry Mina is one of the club's objectives but he will not come in the winter. Barça have changed their plans and feel it's best he has a whole pre-season to adapt, as opposed to arriving midway through a campaign. Mina's still a target, although his performances at the World Cup could be a deciding factor.

Therefore, Barça have been coming the European market, mainly Germany, where there are usually good defenders with reasonable prices.

One of the options is 21-year-old Jonathan Tah, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen. In Germany, there are reports Barça have already opened talks over the Hamburg-born centre-back who has an ace up his sleeve: he will still be eligibile for the Champions League when the knockout stages begin.

AGENDA: Upamecano

Another defender in Germany of interest to Barça is Frenchman Dayot Upamecano. The 19-year-old was followed by the club when he was at Red Bull Salzburg, before he moved to RB Leipzig. However, Upamecano has played all four of his side's Champions League games this season, so would be cup tied if he moved to Camp Nou.
