Barça star Neymar's 'wink' to Brazilian side Flamengo

'It would be an honour to play for Flamengo in the Maracana ," Ney said

The relationship Neymar has with Flamengo, one of the most popular clubs in Brazil, is nothing new.

During the Olympic Games, Neymar had to deny some reported quotes in which his father said his dream was to see his son play for ‘Fla’. Hey denied that, but he sent a message to the fans and “a big kiss for all the rubronegra nation.”

On Wednesday, after playing a friendly in the Maracana with Zico, a big Flamenguista, as the host, it was inevitable that Neymar would be asked about the possibility of playing for Flamengo one day. And this time he didn’t dodge the question.

In half time of the ‘Game of the Stars’, in which the Barça star scored two goals, he responded: “Who knows? For me it would be an honour to play for Flamengo at the Maracana, to be here every day. Yes, it’s a team I’d like to play for.”

Neymar played for 59 minutes — creating two goals and scoring two goals — before coming off to a standing ovation. He gave his boots to a young Flamengo player, who is the son of Beto.

Zico also spoke about Neymar: “It’s not the first time that Neymar’s come to play with us. He is one of the best players in the world and it’s great that he takes part.”
