Barça sporting director Robert Fernandez on Messi & Neymar's futures

Robert Fernandez has made it very clear that Neymar will not be leaving Barcelona any time soon.

The Brazilian has long been expected to sign a new deal with the Catalan club, however the delay in penning the terms has led to rumours he could leave.

Neymar and his father have previously recognised contact from Manchester United, while Real Madrid have also been linked.

However, Barça’s sporting director Robert Fernandez is not worried by the stories.

"I made it very clear a fortnight ago, and I'll say it again now, Neymar will be staying here and there'll be no issues,” he said in an appearance on Teledeporte’s Estudio Estudio.

“He will stay at Barcelona. I'd be concerned about it if he wasn't happy, but that is clearly not the case.

“I’m saying outright: he will stay at Barça"

He also added that he expects Lionel Messi to still be at the club when the new Camp Nou is inaugurated in 2021.

“Messi is in an extraordinary moment and we have a player in him for many years,” he added.

“For years people were saying he could be in decline, but it is not true. He has a lot of football to offer still, above all because of his intelligence.

“He will end up [playing, position-wise] where he wants. That is the reality. He’s so good he can decide where he’s going to play.

“There are so few times he makes a bad decision. There are a lot of good players, but the difference with him is the decisions he make. He always decides well, that’s difficult.”
