Barça reach 38th Copa final - but where will it be?

On May 21, Barcelona will play in the 2015-16 Copa del Rey final. It will be their 38th final in the history of the competition. So far, they have won 27 and lost 10. The first trophy came in 1910, with the most recent arriving last season, 2015. This impressive data makes Barça the undisputed king of the Copa.

Luis Enrique's team will defend the title they won last season courtesty of a 3-1 win over Athletic Club at Camp Nou. Lionel Messi scored a wonder goal on that occasion on the back of a slaloming run. The Argentine scored another goal, too, while Neymar was also on target.

Barça's preferred stage for the final is the Sanitago Bernabeu, but for obvious reasons that's likely to be discarded. Real Madrid will do all they can to make sure of that - as they did last season. The second option is the new San Mames, but for obvious reasons it's unlikely to be there, either. The RFEF cannot risk the Spanish anthem being booed again.

The third option is the Vicente Calderon, where Barcelona and Athletic met in 2012. That final was won 3-0 by the Catalan side. Atletico Madrid's ground can house 54,907 fans and is in the middle of Barcelona and Seville and Barcelona and Vigo - depending on who makes the final.

In any case, the RFEF will not hold a meeting until they know both finalists - Sevilla and Celta Vigo meet on Thursday night. In said reunion, they will decide the venue, the ticket share and other logisitcs, such as possible fan zones.
