Barça players urge the board to push for Arda registration

Some of the heavyweights in the dressing room at FC Barcelona have, in the last few days, urged the club to “take a step forward” in their bid to get Ardan Turan and Aleix Vidal, who as it stands can’t be played until 2016, registered to begin their careers at the Catalan club.

FIFA’s transfer ban, player sales and injuries have left Luis Enrique short of players and he is currently having to fill his squad with several members of Barça B. The long-term injury to Rafinha opened up the possibility of registering a new player, which would have been Arda, under RFEF rules, who allow a new player to be inscribed in the case that a player is ruled out for more than six months.

However, FIFA have, up until this point, prevented the RFEF from registering the Turkish international. Spain’s Sports Council, though, have backed Barça in their push to register a replacement for Rafinha, who is out for the foreseeable future.

With this as the background, the dressing room feels it is the time for the club to act. Above all because if there is a player capable of filling in right now for injured duo Iniesta and Messi, it is Arda. If he was to be available after the international break, it would be great news for a group of players who are concerned by the amount of absentees.
