Barça player ratings as front three sparkle

Jordi Masip 6

Could do nothing with the goals from Ahmed Musa, he was left exposed for those chances. Did not have much else to do, but continued to show confidence when having to play the ball out

Aleix Vidal 5

In probably the most worrying position in the team since Dani Alves' departure, Vidal allowed the opposition plenty of space to exploit. Demarai Gray's early chance was symptomatic of this trend, and he was not getting close enough to stop crosses either. Replaced at the break.

Marlon Santos 7

Promising signs from the Brazilian in pre-season. He shows a level of comfort and self-confidence when under pressure that fits in with the team's philosophy. Only negative was losing Robert Huth at a set-piece, but a good first half before being substituted.

Jeremy Mathieu 7

Good in the first half, along with the rest of the team. Showed his pace to sweep up danger down the left flank, but was one of the defenders beaten too easily by Musa for the first Leicester goal.

Juan Camara 4

Looks lost at left-back. Usually a winger and it showed tonight. He is tentative, and unsure when in an awkward spot. Culpable for the second goal, and caught out of position on several occasions.

Sergi Roberto 6

Better in midfield than at right-back in this match. Linked well in the first-half with Denis and Arda, but was comfortably beaten by Musa just after the break. Has to be stronger and tougher in those instances.

Denis Suarez 5

A game of two halves for the new signing. Very comfortable in the first half when the team were on song, but went missing in the second period. Needs to assert his game when things are not necessarily going in his side's favour.

Arda Turan 7

Given last season's offerings, and his underwhelming Euro 2016, this has been a surprisingly good start to the Turkish midfielder's preparations. He was bright, and constantly looking to be involved before being replaced on the hour mark.

Leo Messi 9

The team plays much more smoothly when Leo is around. All the danger stemmed from his boots, involved in all three goals, with the first coming after a delightful defence-splitting pass. Could have set up more goals had his teammates been more clinical.

Luis Suarez 8

Much better than against Celtic. Lively, dangerous, and very hard to stop. Scored a goal through his usual persistence, and linked well with Messi. Only a few balls that slipped under his foot deny him a better rating.

Munir 8

Often criticised, and understandably so at times, but Munir showed he has a place in this squad. He made smart runs in behind the Leicester defence and his solid first touches, followed by two confident finishes, were a very nice sight for Barça fans. Unfortunately, his poor decision-making robbed him of the chance of a third when clean through on goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Javier Mascherano 5

Behind his teammates in preparations, and it showed. He tried, and failed, to win a reckless challenge which led to Leicester's first, and was given a real headache by the quick Musa. His distribution was also below average.

Sergio Busquets 6

Not too involved, but was his composed self, and even tried his luck from distance with a smart low shot that was saved.

Carles Aleña 6

It can be seen that Aleña is comfortable when playing alongside the first team regulars, but he was in an unnatural advanced position for a while after coming on.

Sergi Samper 6

Not able to get on the ball as much as he would have liked, at a time when the game was not being controlled by Barça. He did help settle things down after a while.

Martinez, Alfaro, Mujica, Carbonell, Nili, Jose Suarez N/A

Unable to rate these players due to short time on the pitch, but 17-year-old Rafa Mujica will be delighted to have scored to settle the game in Barça's favour. Alfaro was involved in the move, with a break down the left.
