Barça may sell at least one squad member this summer

First came the incorporations, and now the time has come for the departures.

Barça are soon to close the entrance gates into their squad, once they sign the desired fourth forward, and from that point on, they will begin to study proposals that arrive for those players that are not going to have a fundamental role in the new project.

The two names that stand out are Arda Turan and Claudio Bravo, although Thomas Vermaelen is another with an uncertain future.

The Catalan club states that they do not have a need to sell, but it is evident that a player sale or two would be welcome to somewhat balance the books.

That said, those footballers who wish to leave, and have an offer on the table, will have to take a step forward for the club to open the exit door.

GOALKEEPING POSITION

The board of directors, like Luis Enrique, assert that they are happy to have two high quality keepers, but it is clear that the management of game time could lead to a problem in the dressing room.

The club clearly lean towards Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, and would allow Claudio Bravo to depart.

They are waiting for the Chilean to return from his summer break to discuss the situation with him.

There is interest in the player from Manchester City, but a negotiation would have to take place.

Barcelona's idea is for Bravo to request a transfer himself.

Should this occur, the club would not sell him for less than 20 million euros, and his replacement, Valencia's Diego Alves, would arrive for five million euros, earning a similar wage to Bravo.

The deal would more than suit the Blaugrana, as Diego Alves would accept the role of substitute goalkeeper and the issue would be resolved.

So the panorama is clear, and now it is down to Bravo to decide.

ARDA, IN THE HEADLIGHTS

Luis Enrique used his first press conference of the new season to come out in defence of Arda Turan.

The coach requested his signing last summer, and stated that he would improve his form in this campaign.

He backed the Turkish international, but the reality is that, after recent signings made by the club, someone in midfield will probably have to be sacrificed.

All eyes are on Arda, who may have offers for his services.

Arsenal are monitoring the player's situation, but have to make an offer of more than 30 million euros to seal any deal.

Turan, for the moment, is calm and the messages from those around him do not invite thoughts of an imminent move away from the Catalan capital, though this could form part of a negotiation strategy.

The Turkish midfielder has simply not fit in to the Barça system, and the club would not mind losing him, but this issue would also be in the hands of the player.

It seems less likely that another midfielder, aside from Sergi Samper, ends up being the odd man out.

The club is not yet sure about what will happen with Thomas Vermaelen.

There has been some interest in the defender, but no concrete offer.

The Belgian wants playing time, and is looking for a way out. His objective would be to return to the Premier League, despite the interest received from clubs in Turkey and Italy.

Vermaelen will not however cause any problems, and Barça will not force him out as his professionalism has always been impeccable.

Liverpool, West Ham and Inter Milan were interested in him, but have not made a formal move.

In the case that he stays at the Camp Nou, the centre-back will be considered another squad member and will have to compete for a starting place.

Following the arrivals to the club, August looks like being the month of sales.
