Barça left-back Jordi Alba in danger of missing the Clasico

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba could be the first ‘victim’ of the FIFA virus. According to reports on RAC1 on Monday, the Spain international sprained his ankle in the goalless draw against Romania at the weekend and it’s not clear whether he will be fit for Satuday’s Clasico.

The player will undergo tests on Monday afternoon to determine the extent of the injury and how long he will be out for. If he does miss the Real Madrid game, Jeremy Mathieu will be the primary option to begin the match at Camp Nou at left-back.

Alba, who didn’t feel any pain until after the Romania game, played the whole 90 minutes of Spain’s second friendly. He joins a list of players - which already includes Ivan Rakitic (calf) and Sergio Busquets (finger) - who have been struggling with minor injuries recently.
