It's been five years since Barcelona had such a big early lead over their rival

Real Madrid have already dropped points at home to Valencia, Levante & Betis

It's been a long time since Barcelona had such a lead over Real Madrid in La Liga after just five games. To find a gap of seven points, as is the case now, you have to go back five years, to the 2012/13 season. It's a situation which has began to worry Madridismo.

Barça, then managed by Tito Vilanova, won all five of their opening fixtures in 2012, taking them to 15 points. Meanwhile, Madrid, under the orders of Jose Mourinho, didn't have such a promising start.

Madrid occupied seventh place after five games with just seven points, eight less than Barcelona. On that occasion, Madrid started the campaign with two wins, a draw and two losses -- against Sevilla and Getafe.

It was a start which Madrid, despite trying, could not recover from and Vilanova's Barça eased to the league title.
