Barça have secured a first refusal deal on target Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus' future has been decided by Barça as the club have obtained a first-refusal deal for the Palmeiras striker.

The Blaugrana have been monitoring the 19-year-old for months and decided to step forward and negotiate with the Alviverde and the player's agent. Now, Barça must determine whether Jesus signs for the 2016/17 season or arrives next year in Catalonia.

They are, however, prepared to pay a fee that'll mean Jesus cannot strike a deal with another club.

Adequatesports, Jesus' representatives, and Palmeiras both demanded a show of interest from Barça, resulting in an initial offer of 19 million euros plus five in variables. His buy-out clause wasn't met but Barça threw a serious message to the player and rival clubs that they were negotiating with him.

Both Manchester City and United possess the financial muscle to sign Jesus but the Blaugrana convinced the Brazilian that the best destination is Barça and Spanish football.

The picture of Jesus wearing the Barça shirt is becoming a reality, but he and his agent doubt whether now is the right time to go to the Camp Nou.
