Barça have around 70 million euros for transfers

Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that the budget for new Barça signings ahead of the 2016/17 season is 60 million euros and that figure won't increase even if the club plans to close the year with a 38 million profit before auditing their accounts.

At the moment, the club would only close the transfers of Samuel Umtiti for about 30 million euros and the repurchase of Denis Suarez for 3.5 million euros. But these deala have already consumed half of the budget. In addition, the Blaugrana has only gained eight million for the transfer of Marc Bartra to Borussia Dortmund.

"The figure that works is 60 million euros plus [the income we receive through] the possible sale of players," Bartomeu said, "Prudence allows us to follow our strategic plan and stick to that amount.

"If these positive figures were recurring annually we'd possibly rethink the situation, but for now we stick to this budget."

As for the ability to keep hold of star players with competitive contracts, the 53-year-old claimed: "We want to remain competitive, have the best players, enjoy our football and have stars like [Lionel] Messi, Neymar, [Andres] Iniesta and [Javier] Mascherano.

"So we have a strategic plan to continue facing [this challenge] without having to sell players to cover our debts."
