Barça to delay transfer decisions until January

We will have to wait a few more weeks more to find out Barcelona’s plans for the month of January and beyond.

Luis Enrique and the club hierarchy have decided to wait a little bit longer to evaluate exactly what is needed and to see how the team gets on in the coming matches. In principle, the meeting could take place during the November international break.

Robert Fernandez, the sporting director, will be in charge unite all the needs of the club and to fit in with Luis Enrique’s ideas, although it is necessary that any signings fit in to the club’s budget.

Luis Enrique hasn’t asked for anything in concrete. The Barça boss has outlined a profile of the type of player he’d like and he’s made it clear he’d be happy if Nolito is finally chosen. The Celta Vigo player would be perfect, but Lucho understands perfectly the economics involved — his release clause makes things tricky.

However, Luis Enrique has confidence in his sporting director, who has been working on a list of cheap, experienced options — someone who could play a similar role to the one played by Henrik Larsson.

Dirk Kuyt, Sergio Garcia, Alvaro Negredo and Jonathan Soriano are on the longlist.

The president has also made it clear that the club have to be careful with finances in January, which has prompted Fernandez to work on a magic plan. Signing experience for cheap is an emergency solution which will buy time.
