Barça defender Pique suggests he'd be open to MLS move in future

The 29-year-old is interested in a move to the USA, but not so keen on the Chinese Super League

Gerard Pique has not ruled out playing in America when his time with Barcelona comes to an end. The centre-back, in quotes to Pelayo, the Spanish national team’s sponsor, suggested he could see himself in Major League Soccer. At 29, the player is still enjoying himself at Barça, but he admits there’s always been an attraction about the United States.

“Both the leagues are growing, although with different models,” he said about the American and Chinese leagues. “I read that MLS is the league with the seventh highest attendances, after the five big European leagues and another. The fans are becoming more hooked on football all the time in the United States. I don’t think I’d go to China, but the USA, let’s see.

“I’ve always said I’d like to retire at Barça, but it would be an attractive option for a few years, as long as I have the appetite to continue playing football.”
