Barça reveal that total cost of Denis Suarez could reach 13 million euros

When Barcelona signed Denis Suarez from Manchester City, the club agreed to pay a series of clauses depending on the midfielder’s development and progression into the first team.

The club, through the board’s spokesman Josep Vives, have confirmed that those clauses still stand.

Barça paid 1.6 million euros for the player to bring him from City in 2013 and have now paid another 3.25 million euros to re-sign him from Villarreal - these two amounts should be added to the clauses which will also have to be paid.

The clauses are as follows: 800,000 euros for forming part of the first team (this amount should be paid this summer providing there are no late changes and Denis Suarez remains at Barça) and then another 800,000 euros for every 10 first team games he plays until his 100th game.

The total amount payable to City, therefore, could reach 8.8 million euros.

If Denis goes onto play 100 games for the club, he will have cost just over 13 million euros in total.
