Suarez scored his second goal of the season, making it 3-0

Valverde also spoke about Girona's man-marking of Messi

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was satisfied with his side's 3-0 win over Girona, which saw the Blaugrana extend their winning start to the season to six games.

He was particularly happy to see Luis Suarez score his second goal of the season: "Strikers live for goals and can go though tough spells, but when they score, everything changes. Suarez’s relationship with the goal is good for us. He’s aggressive until the very last moment."

The coach was also asked about Girona man-marking Lionel Messi, who had scored nine goals in five league games but was not on target at Montilivi.

“The man marking was clear and we had to find the place where to put Messi to move that player [Maffeo] and to get the most out of the situation,” he said.

“You have to take advantage of the situation. We tried to get the better of them by playing in the space and taking advantage of Leo’s movement.

“I think Messi was fine. It’s true that when you’re man-marked it can be uncomfortable, but it also has advantages, not for him, but for the team. I think he was relaxed about it all."

On what he's most happy about after seven wins in a row, he concluded: "The sense of being a team and the spirit that we have is what I like most.

"We’re trying to be together, both in attack and defence. We try to be organised and, in that sense when, when you start at a new team, the results give you strength. What I like most that I see the team mentally prepared to work hard when the game is tough."
