Barça coach Luis Enrique left devastated by injury to Aleix Vidal

Lucho was delighted with the win but was unable to celebrate it after Vidal's injury

The injury picked up by Aleix Vidal could leave him out of action for several month. Without confirmation of the severity of the ankle injury, the reaction of his teammates and his manager suggest it will be serious. Here's what Luis Enrique had to say:

Bittersweet win: "I leave with good sensations due to how the team played and the result. But I’m devastated about Aleix’s injury, how it happened and what it means for him and the team. To see a serious injury for a teammate is unpleasant for everyone. We have to think about lifting his mood. Hopefully he’s back as soon as possible. He’s in the best hands."

Serious injury? "It’s still early (to say how long he will be out)… He’d just left with the doctors when we entered the dressing room. We have to wait, but it looks as if it’s serious."

Beating Alaves: "In a game against a rival sitting deep and well-organised, you gave to dominate in many areas: ball circulation, making the pitch wide, not taking too many touches… The team did well, not just with the ball, but without it, pressing well to win it back when they lost it."

Easing off: "We played at the level which was demanded. If we were able to breakdown a team sat deep, it’s thanks to finding spaces where there weren’t any. In the second half, when they were 2-0 down, Alaves changed the system and we took advantage of our counterattacks. Spaces appeared, then. We were effective and, in the end, both sides could have done without the last half an hour."
