Barça B coach Gerard axes five youth players signalling summer clearout

New Barça B coach Gerard Lopez has started to take his first decisions while in charge. He has already arranged his first departures from an overbooked squad.

This Saturday, after a morning training session, the manager spoke with five of his players in order to tell them that he won't be relying on them this season and that they need to find a new team.

The first to leave are defender Lucas Gafarot, central midfielders Amir, Joel Huertas and Agostinho Ca, as well as striker Isaac Padilla - who is currently injured.

The decision of the coach was taken with immediate effect and due to this, these players will not be present during Saturday's game against Horta.

This are the first departures from Barça B, but they won't be the only ones, given that Gerard can only register 22 players for the Segunda B.

The futures of players such as Alen Halilovic and Adama Traore must also be resolved. Many would be interested in finding another team in a better league than the Segunda B and could be loaned out or sold with a buy-back clause.
