Sao Paulo's president, Carlos Miguel Aidar, has confirmed that Barcelona have signed the Brazilian club's attacking full-back Douglas.

Douglas Periera dos Santos, 24, will join the Catalan club for €6million, although he will continue at Sao Paulo on loan until the summer of 2015.

"Barcelona have bought Douglas and will loan him back to Sao Paulo for a year," Aidar revealed.

"He will then move to Spain in 2015."

Aidar went on to say that the contract will be signed when a representative from Barcelona is next in Brazil. Sao Paulo own 60 percent of the players rights, while a company called Traffic own the other 40 percent.

Considering the loan aspect of the deal, Douglas could be the substitute for Dani Alves next season. Alves will continue with Barça this year, but could leave next summer, despite revealing on Thursday he has two more years on his contract.

Douglas is a right-back with similar attacking tendencies to Alves, 31, who the club turned to after failing to negotiate successfully with Fiorentina for Juan Cuadrado.
