Barcelona struggling to offload Douglas - even for free

Douglas Pereira dos Santos, a Barcelona player since the summer of 2014, cannot find a solution to his ostracism at the club. The Brazilian full-back is on the market, Barça want to find someone who can hand him minutes, but for the moment, with 11 days to go until the winter window shuts, there’s no agreement with anyone.

Barça, to seduce potential suitors, are even prepared to pay his current wages to force through a move. The club’s intention is that Douglas can play games to recover his rhythm, given that he’s played very little since joining the Catalan club and has had dreadful luck with injuries. As well as sporting problems, the club also consider the 26-year-old to have had problems adapting to the grandeur of Barcelona.

Douglas is in his second season at the club and during his 18 month stay he has played just seven games. He was a signing backed by Luis Enrique, but his integration has not been easy. Now Barça hope to find a solution and they’re focused on finding a team who can give Douglas minutes, allowing him to feel like a footballer again.
