Barça boss Valverde says he'd be worried if Suarez wasn't getting chances

Valverde: Lo importante es que Suárez tenga ocasiones / | BARÇATV

The Uruguayan has scored three times in 10 games this season

There have been concerns about his fitness and a knee problem

Ernesto Valverde assures that Luis Suarez in condition to play, despite the problems he has struggled with in recent weeks.

Suarez injured his knee and missed the start of the La Liga season but returned to feature for Uruguay at the beginning of September and has been a regular ever since.

However, as his goal scoring form has dipped (three goals in 10 games this season) there have been concerns raised about his fitness.

It had even been suggested that the striker would need an operation on to remove a cyst on his knee in November, but Valverde continues to downplay any concerns.

"It’s true that other day he had a small problem against Olympiakos, but I don’t think anything serious," the coach said.

"He was able to finish the game. In Luis’ case, he is a player who has always had a good relationship with goal scoring. He did well at Atletico, scored, and had chances against Olympiakos. We know he will have two, three, four chances in a game -- he’s there being a nuisance for opposition defenders.

"Is he injured or not? We don’t think it’s too much of a problem and the injury he had before is fine now. People always ask about him… Because he misses chances. It would worry me more if he didn't have chances. Little by little he will start scoring again."
