Barça are expecting an offer from West Ham for Vermaelen
Barça acknowledge that Thomas Vermaelen is on the transfer market but aren't planning on letting him leave the Camp Nou just yet, with West Ham preparing to offer a way out for the defender.
The Belgian has already informed the Catalan club that he will consider offers from other clubs, although his aim is to return to the Premier League.
At present, there has only been an insufficient offer from AS Roma and now the Blaugrana are waiting for West Ham to make their move. The Hammers have communicated their interest but are lacking the final push to begin negotiations.
Vermaelen is in favour of a move to West Ham, although the club has other options to strengthen the centre-back position and not gamble on the injury-prone 30-year-old.
West Ham have excellent relations with Barça and have no problems if an agreement is to be reached, with the Blaugrana asking for a minimum of 12 million euros.
