PSG have shown themselves to be inflexible & unwilling to sell

Barcelona have been unable to open talks with the French club

Barcelona concede that, as of today, it's almost impossible to close a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti, one of their top target this summer.

The transfer window has only just opened and will be open until the end of August. Therefore, a lot can happen, but SPORT have learned from sources at Barça that Verratti's move to Camp Nou is a long way from happening -- even further than 1,035km that exist between the Catalan city and Paris.

The reality is that PSG are not budging. They are a wall, as they have been before. The name is different, this time it's Verratti, not Thiago Silva or Marquinhos; the sporting director is different, Antero Henrique; the coach is even different, Unai Emery; but Nasser Al-Khelaïfi's message is the same: the stars are going nowhere.

Barça have tried to open talks with PSG in whatever way possible. Verratti has even tried to force a move away from the club. But nothing has helped.

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has proven himself inflexible. PSG have a project which is growing and they will not lose one of their best players. In fact, they want to add to their squad with players like Coutinho or Mbappe.

"Barcelona are wasting time and energy on Verratti," a club source told SPORT about the move for the Italian international.

With that as the backdrop, Barça's only option is to remain patient and to look for another, albeit unlikely way, to try to convince PSG to sell Verratti this summer.
