Argentina coach Bauza: I don't like Mascherano as a centre-back

He ruled out the possibility of dropping the Barça man back due to Funes Mori's upcoming suspension

Argentine manager Edgardo Bauza has given an interview to TyC Sports, about a range of matters related to the Argentine national team. The coach spoke, among other things, about Gonzalo Higuain and Javier Mascherano's continued role as a defender at FC Barcelona.

"I don't like Mascherano as a centre-back," Bauza said when asked if he could replace the suspended Funes Mori with the Barça man in the next match, which is against Chile. "He can play there at any momeny in a game [if needed], but not from the start."

When asked about criticism for Higuain, he added: "If I think about what people say... The most important thing is the confidence that I show in Higuain, not the whistles from the stand.

"I'm the one that has to show confidence. He told me he's used to the criticism, that he can play all the same. He's going to get a goal which will change things. Against Colombia I thought Pratto would adapt [to the game] better, but that was just a choice, as always happens."
