Arda Turan's response to Luis Enrique giving him less time off

Arda Turan is programmed to appear next Monday at the Ciutat Esportiva training complex, to join up with the pre-season sessions of FC Barcelona.

Originally, he had been expected to be allowed a further week's break, like the other internationals that took part in the European Championships.

However, the change of plans was interpreted as a punishment by Luis Enrique given the player's poor form last season.

Turan has responded by returning to the Catalan capital earlier than expected.

The Turkish international is already back at his home in Barcelona, as proven by a photograph shared by a friend of his, in which the midfielder appears playing basketball.

Though he has received offers from other leagues this summer, Turan wants to show Luis Enrique his commitment to the team.

Last term, because of the FIFA sanction, he could not play until January.

He was not even able to participate in friendlies to get into match rhythm, and this hampered him once the ban was complete.

This time out, he will begin the pre-season preparations in equal conditions to his teammates, and therefore will have the chance to show the qualities that allowed him to excel at Atletico Madrid, and convinced the Barça coach to bring him to Camp Nou.
