Arda Turan reveals what is driving Barcelona players on this season

Arda Turan spoke to Cadena Ser on Tuesday and explained what it is that is driving on the Barcelona players this season.

“I hope we can win back-to-back Champions Leagues,” he said on the Que t’hi jueges! show.

“It’s what we talk about most in the dressing room and what really motivates us. We want to the be the first team to win consecutive Champions Leagues [in the modern era].”

The Turkish midfielder, who has still played very few games for Barcelona, has spent since last summer getting to know his new team-mates and has discovered a minefield of talent and competitiveness.

“[Andres] Iniesta is my idol, he is incredible,” he continued as he began to talk his way through the Barça squad.

“Messi is the best player in history, but the way Iniesta plays in incomparable. He enjoys playing and you enjoy watching him play.

“When you play with Messi, it’s another type of football. Neymar’s getting there, too, he will be the next ‘Messi’.”

Arda also touched on joining the club without being able to play for six months, saying there were never any doubts in his mind about completing the move.

“When there’s an offer from Barcelona, it doesn’t matter if you have to wait six months to play,” he said.

“There were [other] offers and I was close to signing one, but when Barça came in, I was so happy. I didn’t have to think about it.”
