Arda could be sacrificed in Barça's attempt to sign Gomes

In the last hours, Barça's negotiations with Valencia for Andre Gomes have undergone a significant shift as several German and Turkish media sources claim that Arda Turan is a reported target of Borussia Dortmund and could join the Schwarzgelben in the near future.

Dortmund are preparing for life after Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the German club accepting Manchester United's 42 million euros offer, and coach Thomas Tuchel is now after a suitable replacement for the Armenian.

The Blaugrana would, therefore, be in a stronger financial position to pay the 60 million euros for Gomes if the Turk left for the Westfalenstadion. With an offer of no less than 30 million euros, Arda's departure could also free up necessary space in Luis Enrique's midfield options - especially given Denis Suarez's recent signing.

Barça are prepared to cut their losses if the right offer is made even though the coaching staff have already designed specific changes in Arda's physical preparations for next season,

Gomes, meanwhile, is under contract with Los Che until June 2020, which remains a stumbling block if he's to make the move to the Camp Nou.

It was this similar situation in Jeremy Mathieu's case that saw Barça pay a higher fee to Valencia to release the Frenchman from his contract, and it appears that history could repeat itself for the Blaugrana if they wish to acquire Gomes.
