Antonin Panenka: "Lionel Messi's Panenka was the best I have ever seen"

The man who created the Panenka penalty, Antonin Panenka, has said that Lionel Messi's Panenka is the best he has ever seen. 

Messi's penalty against Getafe on Tuesday night paved the way to a 6-0 Barcelona win.

And speaking to Rac1 on Wednesday, Panenka said that he is happy to see players still taking his approach to spot kicks on.

"I'm happy that players try and do Panenka penalties," he said. "I'm also happy that journalists talk about them and that fans enjoy them."

In reference to Messi's attempt, he said: "The execution of Messi's was the best I have ever seen."

"Footballers like Ramos, Totti and Zidane have also taken a Panenka penalty. But Messi's is the best of them all."
