Andres Iniesta: Barça reacted like champions after the bad patch
Andres Iniesta gave an interview to Barça TV after helping Barcelona win the Copa del Rey and La Liga double.
"It's been a very complete season," he said. "We had a great run and it seemed like the team was never going to fail. We had a gap ahead of our rivals and later we had a mini negative run in an important moment of the season.
"After that we reacted like champions, proud and with a winning mentality. We showed we are a winning team, that shows face against adversity. When things go wrong or there are doubts, we tried to keep going on the same line, and that helped us win again."
Iniesta was man of the match against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final. He said: "I am conscious that was an important game. We all had to take a step forward when things went wrong [Barcelona went down to 10 men]. Those of us who had more experience have grown to feel very capable of helping the team."
He is only behind Xavi in matches played. When reminded about this, Iniesta said: "What Xavi did is basically unsurpassable. But I'm putting myself in second place and to keep adding up games keeps motivating me. I don't look further than now, because you never know how things go. I'm trying to enjoy the present."
