Andres Iniesta: I'd have liked to see Victor Valdes here

Vicente Del Bosque confessed that he nearly gave Victor Valdes a sympathy call up to the Spain squad, to give him a boost in a bad time for him, but eventually didn't.

Andres Iniesta said he would have liked to see the goalkeeper with the squad for their upcoming matches. 

"I would have liked to see Valdes here because he's been in a difficult situation for a while," he said.

Iniesta was also asked about his former Barcelona and Spain pal Xavi's absence and its effect on the national team. 

"There's no player like Xavi, equally there's not another one like Cazorla (who was sat by his side). The important thing is when one's not there, the others offer the best version of themselves.

"With new players we can keep growing to be a winning team."
