Andre Gomes will arrive in Barcelona on Tuesday

Andre Gomes is currently enjoying some days in Ibiza, and will arrive in Barcelona on Tuesday.

A day later, he will put on the Barça shirt for the first time.

The Portuguese midfielder will experience the whole process of posing next to the club badge in the morning, the contract signing, the medical test and the official presentation.

Gomes will end the day wearing the Blaugrana's colours on the Camp Nou playing surface, and thereby fulfill his father's dream, who has always been a fan of the Catalan club.

The footballer's press conference will be followed with great interest, as Gomes had other offers on the table, including one from Real Madrid, who did not expect Barça's movements in the hours prior to the deal being made official.

Manchester United also showed interest in the midfielder's situation, but Andre Gomes finally opted for the proposal from Barcelona.

Valencia accepted the offer of 35 million euros, plus 20m euros in bonuses, and the deal was completed in Ibiza in just 24 hours.

Barça acted quickly and travelled to the island to meet the player, Valencia owner Peter Lim, and agent Jorge Mendes.

Gomes is aware of the tough competition for places in the Barcelona squad and of the difficulties in fitting into a system as unique as theirs.

It is due to this that the Portuguese international is considering the possibility of cutting short his holidays, to link up with his new team's training sessions before August.

Within the Catalan club, there is confidence that the player can contribute to the team straight away, but they highlight the room for improvement in the 22-year-old footballer.

Indeed, they think that last season at Valencia, Gomes showed a poorer version of himself than he is capable of reaching.

Some of his better displays in the last campaign were, in fact, in games against Luis Enrique's team.
