Alves set to leave Barcelona and sign a three-year deal with Juventus
Dani Alves will leave Barcelona and sign for Juventus for the next three seasons. The agreement is complete and it will be made official next week, as revealed by SPORT on the program 'Que t'hi jugues' on Cadena SER.
Alves left his future in the air on Tuesday when he appeared at an event for Hepatitis C, suggesting he was certain to be at Barça next season. Negotiations began with Juve one month ago and the agreement was reached, with the exception of the signature, after the Copa del Rey final. There’s no going back.
The Brazilian travelled to the Copa America on Wednesday to join up with Brazil squad knowing that he would not return to Barça. The next time he’s in the city could be to say goodbye once the deal with Juventus is confirmed, which just lacks a few details, nothing important, and will soon be a reality.
Barça will therefore have more room for wages for new signings and contract renewals, given how high Alves’ contract, which was extended one year ago, is.
The 33-year-old’s goodbye leaves many unknowns on the table for the club. They must now sign a right-back, given Luis Enrique’s apparent lack of faith in Aleix Vidal. It’s likely, though, that they’ve had someone in mind and have prepared for Alves’ likely exit, knowing it could be imminent.
He has spent eight seasons at Camp Nou and has been an undisputed starter in each and every season. And he may join up with Javier Mascherano at Juve, who has also reached an agreement with the Serie A club.
