Alves' exit the sad end to a love story which lasted eight seasons

Dani Alves is leaving Barça. He will sign for Juventus. For three seasons. And the worst thing is he will go for free. Totally free. The Blaugrana will not receive a single euro for the Brazilian. Because in his last contract renewal, Alves and Barça agreed on a release clause without compensation. A serious error which is now having consequences.

FC Barcelona cannot do anything to keep hold of the Brazilian. Alves, after two summers of drama (now I’m staying, now I’m going…), has finally taken the decision to leave Camp Nou. He’s taking advantage of a good economic offer from Juventus and he is protected by the clause which allows him to leave without compensation.

It is a sad end to a love story which has lasted eight seasons. Alves has been one of the great pillars of the best Barça in history. And now, at 33, he will sign the last big contract of his sporting career. It’s a shame, above all because it will be difficult to find a replacement. No-one, throughout his eight years at the club, has been able to steal his place. Because Alves has been the best right-back in the history of Barcelona.
