Alves brutally honest in Barça press conference

Dani Alves spoke purely as he attended a press conference after training on Thursday afternoon. As well as confirming he has a contract until 2016, not 2015 like previously thought, he had plenty of explosive comments to make.

Here are the main phrases to come from the Brazilian:

CRITICS

"They've spoke a lot about me here, but the critics motivate me. Praise, however, makes you weaker. Stick makes you improve."

"I've earned the right to be respected after more than seven years [at the club]."

"I live year to year. I wanted to speak to Luis Enrique to know that he counted on me. He's said he does. If he counts on me, I count on him."

"I assume my part of the responsibility. In the last two years we have not been a great team. I've failed because I let the team fall. If we all do our jobs, we will win titles - it is a question of attitude."

"Being whistled by people is fine with me, because it means I am obliged to return and demonstrate my value."

"They criticise me because of what I've done on the pitch, not off it. If someone doesn't like me uploading a video dancing, don't follow..."

"One day I will have to leave [Barcelona], but I would like to do so with the sensation that I have been a great professional."

"It seemed that the blame for everything that happened was mine."

"I haven't felt supported when there have been stories in the newspapers."

"If the club don't want me, they can tell me that. I will leave right away."

"The board have doubted me. They did not explain the stories to me, nor did they send me any messages. We are not children."

"Everything that happened last year was not Tata [Martino's] fault. It was ours. We didn't do things well."

"We didn't deserve to win titles last year. It would have been an injustice if we had won la Liga."

"The press tell lies. People buy the papers to see facts, but so many stories are not true."

LA LIGA

"We start in good shape. We have clear ideas, but we need to put them into practice. All the teams that want to win the league have to improve."

"I'm not afraid of Real Madrid. We've always had a lot of respect for our rivals. I believe that respect is mutual. We will have to compete with them."

LUIS SUAREZ

"We need bad people on the team, because if we don't then everything comes down on me. He will contribute a lot, but he doesn't need to change his attitude or way of playing."

"I don't want to give an opinion of FIFA's sanction. I keep my opinions for me."

NEYMAR

"When he arrived they said he needed time to adapt. Last year he was good, but this year he has to be better, because if he doesn't people will got for him like with me."

"All the time his relationship with Messi is improving and also with the other forwards. I think it will be really exciting to watch him play this year."

BRAZIL

"I'm not worried that Dunga didn't call me up. After the World Cup there had to be a bad cop, and it's been me. You can't compete against the press."

"We weren't well prepared for the World Cup. Germany taught us a lesson as a team. We lost by seven but it could have been 10."
