Alen Halilovic is struggling in Germany and could return to Spain

The player could return to Spain on loan in January as he has struggled for gametime with Hamburg this season

Alen Halilovic experimented by going to Hamburg but is finding it bitter, and the player and Barcelona hope that for his sporting future he finds a solution. Halilovic is not getting minutes with the Bundesliga club he signed for and it doesn't seem like he will be getting them soon. The Croatian knows he should change his scene and could take advantage of the winter window to go on loan to a Spanish club. Sporting Gijon and Valencia are watching and waiting, while Barcelona hope that he can explode because they have a 10m buy-back option on him.

It is not an easy situation and was produced by the bad decision of the player to go to Germany, rejecting La Liga clubs, where Hamburge offered him a big contract. Halilovic has not adapted to the game there. Hamburg are doing badly and the coach has turned to veteran players to revert the bad dynamic.

Nobody will buy him for the 5m that Hamburg paid Barcelona for him, though Valencia would have this summer, so it is likely he will go on loan. Sporting would be interested if Hamburg paid part of his salary. His people know that Spanish football is the best for his characteristics.

Barcelona are disappointed with the player. They wanted him to go to Valencia so he would be more visible to them and Los Che had agreed to pay the 5m but Halilovic did not agree a salary. At Barcelona they thought if he continued on the path he started moving on while on loan at Sporting, they would bring him back to Camp Nou. They still hope he can find a sporting project where he can be a protagonist.

The coach of Sporting, Abelardo, admitted he would have liked Halilovic back this season because he was convinced he could get more still out of him. In the 36 games he played with the Asturians he started 14 of them.
