Aleix Vidal will stay at Barça and there will be no January replacement
Luis Enrique was impressed with the right-back against Gladbach and he's earned a second chance
FC Barcelona will not make any signing in January. The club have put an end to the Aleix Vidal soap opera and the right-back will stay with the squad. Therefore, the option of signing a new full-back has been parked for now.
Vidal's performance against Borussia Monchengladbach has convinced the first team coaches. The former Sevilla man was good in defence, contributed in attack and created a goal for Arda Turan in an active performance. It's true that the Bundesliga side didn't demand a huge amount of effort from Barça, but the attitude and performance from Vidal was exceptional.
In fact, even Luis Enrique praised the player: "Vidal was sepctacular. He is taking advantage of the minutes he's had. He was at the level required by Barca, good with and without the ball. He won back the ball, showed good anticipation, made one of the goals ... it was a complete performance."
Luis Enrique added "welcome to the cause" which is to say that, from now, he will count on Vidal as normal. Not until now, when he's been frozen out. The player was also clear: "I will give 1000 percent to triumph here."
If Aleix Vidal stays with the first team, there will be no need to sign in January and potential deals will be parked until the summer.
