Aleix Vidal focused on Barça and ignoring offers from elsewhere

Aleix Vidal’s second season at Barcelona has not had a comfortable start. The player has seen Sergi Roberto get the better of him in the battle to takeover from Dani Alves at right-back. He was given minutes in the loss to Alaves but was poor and was left out of the squad for the Celtic game.

In Italy, Sports Mediaset have revealed Inter Milan want to sign the former Sevilla man. Their interest is not new. They wanted him when he was at Sevilla, before Barça signed him last summer. He’s remained on their radar ever since and now they’re back in for him. Other Serie A and Premier League clubs are also interested.

Vidal, though, is still keen to try and make himself a success at Camp Nou. He made a big decision to join the club when he knew he wouldn’t play for six months due to FIFA’s transfer ban, especially when there was interest elsewhere and he was in such good form at Sevilla.

After a talk with Luis Enrique in pre-season he feels he’s overcome any issues he did have and feels like part of the first team squad. He featured regularly in the friendlies and played the second leg of the Super Cup.

He’s training hard and there are no complaints about his attitude from the coaching staff. Luis Enrique’s decision to drop him against Celtic was a blow, above all because of the way it came about after a disappointing defeat.

Despite that, Aleix understands that his situation this season has nothing to do with last season’s, when he wasn’t in his manager’s plans. His work in training has been positive and he will continue to behave in the same manner, convinced more chances will come his way. Vidal has turned down offers in the past and doesn’t want to listen to offers now.
