Alaves 0-6 Barcelona: Vidal injury mars otherwise wonderful day for Blaugrana

Things got messy quickly for Alaves, but for a while it seemed like they were going to be as stubborn as they were at Camp Nou back in September.

Barcelona were struggling to wear them down and Theo Hernandez's 50 yard plus run was only ended by Marc-Andre ter Stegen's fine save.

But then a brilliant passing move ended when Aleix Vidal crossed for Luis Suarez to fire home and send Barcelona ahead in the 37th minute.

Three minutes later they were at it again, when goalkeeper Dani Pacheco erred, pushing Leo Messi's chip against Suarez's head, with Neymar in the right place at the right time to tap home the rebound.

Alaves could have pulled themselves back into the game after the break, but Christian Santos hammered a strike over the bar when he should have scored, following Theo's cross.

Messi notched the third for Barcelona with a drilled strike that nutmegged Pacheco and it opened the floodgates.

The fourth came when the Argentine was played in and he pressured Alexis into inadvertently putting through his own net.

Ivan Rakitic got the fifth after another unintentional Suarez assist, with the Croatian rattling home a strike from the right-side of the box.

Suarez added a second when Pacheco lamely tipped Neymar's gentle strike into his path, and the game was over.

Or it should have been, but sadly a poor Theo tackle on Aleix Vidal ended with Barcelona's right-back going off on a stretcher.

He may miss the coming months and it was the only black spot on an otherwise good day as Barcelona exacted revenge for their Camp Nou defeat and issued a warning to Alaves ahead of the Copa del Rey final.
