Ajax goalkeeper Onana says he would love to return to Barcelona

Impressing in Holland, he says he would one day like to go back to Catalonia

Things are going well for Ande Onana at Ajax.

The Cameroon goalkeeper has broken a record by keeping seven clean sheets in a row. The former Barça stopper left the club when he was a Juvenil and no-one can say he erred. Although he still has a long way to go, he admits he would like to return to the Catalan club.

"We'll see if I return to Barcelona," he said in an interview with Marca on Saturday. "If I leave Ajax, it'll be to join an even bigger club. You have to do everything right here before going back, but I'd like to return."

On his time at the club and his departure, he added: "I have a lot of beautiful memories of my time at La Masia, but I had to leave to grow as a footballer. It was a decision I had to make. They had just signed Claudio Bravo and it wasn't clear whether I'd get a chance so I left - had I stayed everything would have been more difficult."

Onana has helped Ajax move on from Jasper Cillessen, who's now at Barça, and he also spoke about Davinson Sanchez, a central defender who has been linked with a Camp Nou move.

He said: "He's a great defender. He is a good friend of mine and I think he has the quality to play for Barça. He would improve a lot there. I see him as a player for the Blaugrana."
