Adriano publishes emotional goodbye letter to FC Barcelona

Former Barcelona defender Adriano has written a letter of thanks and goodbye, after signing for Besiktas. He published it through his social media accounts. He could not hide his sadness at leaving after six years at the club. Here is his letter:

Dear Blaugranas,

As you know, I will play next season for the black eagles of Bosforo (Besiktas) and the time has arrived to say goodbye to you. 

I have no words to express all the feelings going through my head. It's overwhelming. My gratitude comes with a heap of memories, much happiness and the pain that one has when you say goodbye to a love.

From when I was little I dreamed of being a footballer and wearing Barcelona's shirt fulfilled this dream. But you have given me much more than this. 

In these six years many of my club team-mates have become friends for life, whom I will take with me wherever I go. 

Barcelona, this marvellous city, has given my family our second child Azhaf, who has Catalan blood.

I will be eternally grateful to my team-mates and coaches that I've had, those from before and the current ones. I have learned a lot from them, they have helped me grow on a professional and personal level. 

I want to give thanks to the president and the club directors for always having confidence in me and giving me the opportunity to form part of Barcelona's history. 

To you, Barca fans, you have made me feel at home from when I first set foot in Camp Nou. Without your unconditional support, many achievements would not have been possible. I hope I have returned some of your immeasurable affection.

In life many times you end up crossing paths. Until then and always, I will take you in my heart and I will feel part of the Blaugrana family. 

With all my affection I tell you, it's not a goodbye but a see you later.
