21 youth players have debuted at Barcelona in last five years

Barcelona should be a club who draws from their youth system, as it was under Guardiola and Cruyff. In recent years the number of debutants have increased, but it has not led to the first team regularly using Masia players. 21 players have made their debut but few have earned a space in the first team squad. The likes of Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer and Arda Turan have blocked the youngsters from doing so.

Tata Martino opene the door to Patric, Adama and Dongou, but none of the three are currently at the club. Patric is playing at Lazio, Adama is at Middlesbrough, and Dongou is at Nastic.

LUCHO ERA

With Luis Enrique there were 16 debuts. Only Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez got a regular game at Barcelona but both have sine left. Jordi Masip was in the squad for a while but rarely played. Others like Carbonell, Marlon, Borja Lopez, Nili, Samper, Edgar Ie, Halilovic, Gumbau, Aitor and Camara have had to leave in one way or another to find more minutes and more confidence. 

Carbonell and Camara are at Reus, Borja Lopez is in Croatian, Nili at Albacete, Aitor at Sevilla Atletico, and Masip to Valladolid. Others like Alena, Kaptoum and Cardona are still at Barca B. 

Top flight

Some other players who debuted under Lucho are still playing top flight football. Marlon is on loan at Nice but could eventually be part of Barcelona's squad, Gumbau is at Leganes, Munir at Alaves on loan and Halilovic and Samper at Las Palmas, also on loan. Sandro and Ie have packed their bags and left Spain, the former at Everton and the latter at Lille.

The newest additions

With Ernesto Valverde there have been new debuts. Jose Arnaiz was the protagonist, scoring in the 3-0 win at Murcia, while Alena played too. Cucurella came off the bench to make his debut in the final few minutes. People expect the left-back to have a big future in the game.
