Gerard Pique was received with whistles upon his arrival in Alicante with the Spanish national team. The Spain delegation, led by coach Julen Lopetegui, traveled from Madrid to Andalucia on Thursday, where they were met by a number of supporters at first the airport and later their hotel.
Some of the supporters, as well as waiting to see the national team players, were also waiting for Pique. To whistle him. Pique's words in a press conference on Wednesday seem to have had little effect, with supporters still jeering the Catalan defender. A few years ago the Barcelona player was also whistled when with Spain in Alicante.

This is just the prelude to what could happen this afternoon in the training session Spain have planned ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Albania on Friday. A training session which will be open to supporters at the Rico Perez stadium and could see a repeat of what happened earlier in the week at Las Rozas.
